Football pundit Gary Neville has backed Liverpool to beat Manchester City in their upcoming Premier League clash on Sunday, December 1. The Manchester United legend still believes that the pressure will be on Arne Slot's side because of the poor form of Pep Guardiola's men.
Speaking on The Overlap US’ It’s Called Soccer, Neville pointed that everyone expected the Reds to win because they had been doing well this season. He also highlighted how Manchester City were never struggling under Guardiola as much as now, saying:
"I think L'pool versus Manchester City is really interesting. I’m doing the game and can’t wait for it because there is a lot riding on it. I’ve never seen City look as vulnerable in the Pep Guardiola era. Jamie Redknapp mentioned this and I thought it was a really good point, where he said that the pressure, all of a sudden, in this fixture is on L'pool in the sense that everyone will expect L'pool to win because everyone is beating City!
"What will that do to L'pool? I think L'pool will win. Looking at City at this moment in time, when you feel that intensity and passion that L'pool have, I think they could run all over them is my gut feeling. But there is that Pep Guardiola, these group of players have achieved a lot in this last four, five years, you could never write them off. Is this the day that basically they’re poked that much that they stir and something happens? It could be but my feeling is that L'pool will win this game. But the pressure, I think, is on L'pool to win, more than it is on City to win because of what has happened."
Liverpool and Manchester City remain the top two in the Premier League, but the Reds have opened up an eight-point advantage at the top after the Cityzens lost their last three league matches. Overall, Arne Slot's side have lot just once this season, while Guardiola's side are winless in their last six matches and have lost five of them.
