British presenter Andy Goldstein has lambasted Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly for failing to recognise Blues great Ruud Gullit during a meeting.

Earlier this month, Gullit revealed that Boehly did not recognise him after he introduced himself as an ex-Blues star and coach. He stated that the American asked him about when he played for the side in an episode of the Stick to Football podcast.

Discussing Gullit's remarks about Boehly, Goldstein said on talkSPORT:

"What it is, it's not just the fact you should know great players from your club, you should know Ruud Gullit. If you're at a football club and Ruud Gullit walks in, you should know who it is."

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent also pitched in and added:

"I think you win a lot of favours if you do your due diligence. Listen, everyone's different but if they just go, 'I don't really care about the supporters and their opinion, but just to endear myself to the supporters, I'm going to go out there, I'm going to meet them, I'm going to know the DNA of the football club.' And the supporters will go, 'Okay, at least he knows what we're about.'"

Goldstein, who is reportedly a Manchester United supporter, continued:

"It's terrible. What owners of football clubs don't realise, although you're buying the club, it's not your club. It'll never be your club. It's the fans' club and you just own the keys to the front door, that's it."

Gullit, who lifted the 1987 Ballon d'Or award, spent the final three years of his playing career at Chelsea. After arriving from Sampdoria in 1995, the Dutchman bagged seven goals in 64 overall games for the west London team. He also guided the Blues to an FA Cup victory in 1997 as a player-manager.

Chelsea aiming to snap up talented winger

According to Caught Offside, Chelsea are keen to add promising winger Jamie Gittens to their ranks this summer. They are prepared to offer the winger a contract until 2030 and double the salary he earns at Borussia Dortmund.

Gittens, who could be available for a fee of between £51 million and £59 million, has attracted interest from other clubs as well. Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are all aiming to snap up the 20-year-old.
