Manchester United star Paul Pogba has admitted that a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid remains a dream for him, according to Sport Witness via RMC Sport.

Pogba is one of Manchester United's most prized assets and his recent comments come at a tumultuous time for the club.

Paul Pogba has one year left in his contract, and for much of his time at Manchester United, he has been linked with a move away from the club. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have all mooted as potential destinations for the Frenchman.

The midfielder is currently on national duty and spoke following France's 7-1 demolition of Ukraine.

"Yes, every football player would like to play at Real Madrid. It may be a dream. It’s a dream for me, why not one day. As I said, I’m in Manchester and I love my club."

The France international spent much of last season out due to injury, making most of his appearances post the lockdown. He formed a good midfield partnership with Portuguese Bruno Fernandes, helping Manchester United qualify for Champions League by finishing third in the league.

Having rejoined Manchester United from Juventus in 2016 for a then world-record fee of €105 million, Pogba has never truly established himself as the club's midfield lynchpin despite his obvious talent and quality.

Since 2016, the 27-year old has made 161 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, scoring 33 goals. Last season, he made 22 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

It was reported during the start of the summer that Pogba would be willing to extend his contract at Manchester United, but lack of activity in the transfer window and poor results at the start of this season have dampened the mood.

Despite identifying Jadon Sancho as their primary transfer target, Manchester United failed to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger, as the squad goes into the season with only Daniel James as the recognized right-winger at the club. Prodigious youngster Mason Greenwood has been utilised in that position, but his long-term future is believed to be as a central striker.

On deadline day, Manchester United announced the signing of left-back Alex Telles from Porto and striker Edinson Cavani on a free, with young wingers Facundo Pellestri and Amad Traore also joining the club.
