Supercomputer predicts next season’s Premier League top 10 as Chelsea tipped to face disappointment again

Chelsea are tipped to miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification next season as well as a supercomputer from Ladbrokes predicted how the Premier League table will look next season.

The Blues are tipped to finish fifth next season. Manchester City are expected to lift their sixth Premier League title in the last seven years next season while Arsenal are once again tipped to be runner-ups.

Liverpool, who look set to finish fifth this season, are expected to be back in the UEFA Champions League next season with third being their predicted position in the league table. Manchester United are predicted to finish in fourth place.

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, and Brentford are tipped to be the teams from sixth to tenth in chronological order.

Chelsea have had a very underwhelming campaign this season and will finish outside the top 10. Considered among title challengers before the start of the season, the Blues' performances have been shambolic, to say the least. They are currently 12th with 43 points from 36 matches.

The west Londoners are set to appoint a new manager in the summer in the form of Mauricio Pochettino. While the Argentine is the current frontrunner to take charge, his first season is predicted to not be a very successful one.

Frank Lampard reacted to Chelsea's defeat against Manchester City

Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to a second-string Manchester City side at the Etihad in their latest Premier League game. With the Premier League already in the bag, Pep Guardiola gave his fringe players a chance to shine.

Despite being the stronger team on paper, the Blues failed to scruff the game by the neck and get a positive outcome. Frank Lampard, however, saw positives in the defeat. The caretaker boss told the media after the game (via Chelsea's website):

"We played pretty well and I am pretty pleased with the performance. It is tough here no matter what team City put out, internationals and quality young players contributing through the years."

He added:

"For us, it was a tough game and we played well after the first 15 minutes where we gave them too much respect. After the goal, we created enough here to score one or two goals."

Chelsea have two games remaining in their dismal season. They will play Manchester United at Old Trafford next on May 25. A home clash against Newcastle on May 28 will be their final game of the 2022-23 campaign.
