William Gallas has claimed that Arsenal have 'no chance' of signing Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres

Former French defender William Gallas has claimed that Arsenal have 'no chance' of signing Sporting CP's Swedish sensation Viktor Gyokeres. Following Ruben Amorim's move to Manchester United, the forward has also been rumored with a move to Old Trafford.

Gyokeres joined the Portuguese side from EFL Championship side Coventry City for a reported €24 million in the summer of 2023. He announced himself on the big stage in the 2023-24 campaign, bagging a whopping 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 games across all competitions.

Although he was the subject of great interest from top European sides last summer, he ended up staying at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. He has racked up 23 goals and four assists in just 18 games thus far in the 2024-25 season. He recently registered a hat-trick against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

After Manchester United's sacking of Erik ten Hag, Amorim was heavily rumored to be the front-runner to take the top job at Old Trafford. His move was made official earlier this month and he started his job on November 11, taking over from interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Gyokeres is now heavily rumored to follow in his manager's footsteps and move to the red side of Manchester. Although he has been linked with other top European sides, including Gallas' former sides Arsenal and Chelsea, the Frenchman believes no one else stands a chance.

He said to Genting Casino (via Metro):

"Arsenal have no chance of signing Viktor Gyokeres, he will choose Man United. Gyokeres will follow Ruben Amorim to Man United, I think Gyokeres would suit Man United's team too."

Amorim's first game in charge of Manchester United will be against Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the Premier League on November 24.

"He can play at the top level" - William Gallas names striker that Arsenal should sign instead of Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has claimed that the Gunners should try to sign Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen instead of reported Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres. The Frenchman couldn't understand why the 25-year-old is playing for Galatasaray (on loan from Napoli) and said that he 'needs to play in the Premier League'.

In the absence of a true No. 9, German attacker Kai Havertz currently plays up top for the Gunners. He has been a solid contributor with seven goals and an assist in 17 appearances across competitions this season. However, manager Mikel Arteta's side are still on the lookout for an out-and-out striker.

Gallas claimed that Osimhen could be the perfect solution for Mikel Arteta's problems up top. While he acknowledged Havertz's quality, he pointed out Osimhen's positional fit and superior finishing ability as the skills set him apart.

He told Genting Casino (via Metro):

"Havertz is a good player, but he's not top class. I'm sorry, but he's nowhere near a world-class level, Arsenal need a player to replace him at striker."
"I still don't understand why Victor Osimhen is at Galatasaray, he needs to play in the Premier League and he can play at the top level at Arsenal... They need a striker like Osimhen, the club needs to wake up, it's obvious and simple, they need a striker," Gallas added.

Up next, Arsenal will play host to Premier League high-flyers Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on November 23.
