N’Golo Kante was the first Leicester City player to make the move to a bigger club in the Premier League. After Leicester City's incredible title win several of their stars were wanted by the big boys but so far only Kante has made the switch.
Kante met his new teammates after joining the Blues but one player in particular, got a special message from the midfield man. Kante revealed that he spoke to Eden Hazard about his goal against Tottenham Hotspur last season which handed Leicester City the title.
Speaking on Chelsea’s official website he spoke about the conversation he had with the former PFA winner.
“I was with the team at Jamie Vardy’s house and when we saw Chelsea losing 2-0 at half-time against Tottenham, we said now we have to be ready for the Everton game, but at the end this was a very good night.”
“When I saw Eden Hazard here at Chelsea I said to him you maybe do not know but everyone thanks you.”
Hazard has now scored the goal that decided the last two league titles. The 2014/15 season Hazard scored against Crystal Palace to hand Chelsea the title, and exactly a year later his goal against Spurs gave the Foxes the Championship.
Chelsea move not a gamble : Kante
Even though Chelsea have achieved success in recent times and are considered one of the big clubs in the league their 2015/16 campaign was very disappointing and came as a shock to many.
So it was a little surprising to see N’Golo Kante give up Champions League football and move to the Blues despite the club already being rich on midfield options. But the Frenchman defended his choice.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said “It’s not a gamble. For me this is a new step, To stay at Leicester and play in the Champions League would have been a good step, but joining Chelsea is a good step too. Of course, I have never played in the Champions League. But everyone knows that Chelsea are a big club and I hope I will be playing in it next year.”
