N'Golo Kante: A Brief Biography
N’Golo Kante is a French professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for the France national team and Premier League side Chelsea FC. He is considered by many to be one of the world's best midfielders, Kante is widely praised for his work rate and defensive prowess.
Early Life
Kante was born on March 29, 1991, in Paris, France, to Malian parents. He grew up in the Parisian suburb of Rueil-Malmaison and began playing football at a young age.
He started his youth career in the year 1999 at the age of 8. He started playing for JS Suresnes and continued his stay there for more than a decade until 2010. He was often taken away from the radar because of his small stature by the bigger teams. In 2010 he joined the reserve team of Boulogne.
Kante's impressive performances caught the attention of several larger clubs, and he eventually signed with SM Caen in 2013, where he continued to hone his skills and develop as a player.
Club Career
N'Golo Kante's club career began at French lower-league club US Boulogne in 2012, where he played for one season before moving to SM Caen. It was at Caen where Kante established himself as one of the top defensive midfielders in Ligue 1, helping the club avoid relegation in his first season and earn a mid-table finish in his second.
In 2015, Kante signed for Leicester City in the English Premier League, where he became a key player in their miraculous title-winning campaign in the 2015-16 season. Kante's work rate, tenacity, and defensive abilities were instrumental in Leicester's success, and his performances earned him the Premier League Player of the Season award.
After just one season at Leicester, Kante signed for Chelsea in 2016, where he continued to excel. He helped the club win the Premier League title in his first season and was named the Chelsea Player of the Year. Kante has since won numerous individual awards and has been a consistent performer for Chelsea, playing an integral role in their success in the Premier League (2016-17). He has also won other trophies like the FA Cup, Europa League, and FIFA Club World Cup.
In 2021, Kante played a crucial role in helping Chelsea win their second Champions League title, putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the final against Manchester City. He has become known as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and is highly regarded by fans and peers alike.
International Career
Kante has represented the French national team since 2016. He made his debut in March of that year in a friendly match against Russia and has since become a regular member of the team. He played a key role in France's successful 2018 World Cup campaign, where they won the tournament for the second time in their history. He formed a strong partnership with Paul Pogba in midfield and was an integral part of the team's defensive solidity. Ee was even named in the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team for his performances throughout the tournament.
Kante has continued to be an important player for the French national team and helped them reach the Round of 16 at Euro 2020. He has 53 caps for his country to date.
Unfortunately, he missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup due to a hamstring injury. France ended up finishing as the runners-up after losing to Argentina in the final.
Records
In the 2015-16 season, Kante became the first outfield player to win back-to-back top-flight titles in England with two different clubs (Leicester City and Chelsea).
