No La Liga trophy for either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid

 Angel Maria Villar

President of Spanish Football Association and the representative of FIFA, Angel Maria Villar.

Barcelona play Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou on Saturday for their title-deciding fixture with Atletico having a chance to be the first team other than Barcelona or Real Madrid to win the trophy in a decade.

However, no matter who emerges victorious at the end of the season on Saturday, neither of the team will be taking home the original La Liga trophy.

According to Marca, due to the absence of the Spanish Football Federation President Ángel María Villar, a replica trophy will be presented to the champions. Villar is said to be travelling, and will not be able to attend the match at Camp Nou.

The winners will have to wait for the next season to be awarded with the original trophy.
