Official: Gonzalo Higuain joins Napoli

Gonzalo Higuain has completed his move to Napoli for a fee reported to be around £34 million.

It was reported that Higuain was actually favouring a move to Arsenal, but the £23 million bid wasn’t convincing enough for Real Madrid.

Higuain is the third Real Madrid player to have joined the Naples-based team with his former Real Madrid team-mates Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon being the other two players.

Prior to the deal, image rights of the player threatened to break down the deal, which was stalled over personal terms. However, those issues have reportedly been resolved now and Higuain will be earning £140,000 per week now, which is more than double his comparatively modest £64,000-a-week wage at Real.
