Real Madrid have gone through one of the most disastrous seasons in their recent history this year. They have not won any trophy and have had three different managers in a span of 12 months. However with Zinedine Zidane back at the club, the team has already been linked with multiple start players.

With nothing to play for, it is clear that the squad is already thinking about the next season and thinking about ways to bring the mighty Los Blancos back to glory. Here's a look at how Real Madrid's starting lineup would look the next season as they'll try to break Barcelona's domination in the La Liga.

Attack

Starting: Karim Benzema, Luka Jovic, and Eden Hazard.

Bench: Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Santos, Isco Alarcon, Mariano Diaz, and Lucas Vazquez.

Real Madrid were miserable in the final third throughout the season. Zidane would be looking forward to reinforce his forwards for the next season. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Eden Hazard and there is no chance that he will be bought to warm the bench.

Karim Benzema was perhaps the best Real Madrid player this season and it seems that his romance with fellow Frenchman and coach Zidane will continue as he will look to continue his goal scoring streak in the next season.

Midfield

Starting: Toni Kroos, Carlos Casemiro, and Christian Eriksen.

Bench: Dani Ceballos, Marcos Llorente, and Fede Valverde.

Real Madrid's midfield was their most integral and consistent part of the team during their recent three consecutive UCL wins. Like every other Real Madrid player, even the midfielders have had an off season. The midfield had been very inconsistent this season.

While Modric has looked tired and Kroos has been disappointing and Casemiro had injury problems, Ceballos, Llorente and Valverde have shown positive signs whenever they were given chances. It would probably be wise to sell Luka Modric because of his age and Tottenham Hotspur Superstar Christian Eriksen would be his perfect replacement and Real have also been heavily linked with a move with the Danish footballer.

Defense

Starting: Sergio Reguilon, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, and Dani Carvajal.

Bench: Nacho Fernandez, Jesus Vallejo, Eder Militao, and Alvaro Odriozola.

While Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos may not be at his peak at the age of 33, he has at least two good years for his service towards the club left within himself and Real Madrid will need a leader like him to rebuild the squad. Raphael Varane is still one of the best defenders and has played at a very high level since past 8 years and is still only 26 years old.

The rumors of him leaving have calmed down since Zidane came back. Dani Carvajal is one of the best in his position and will be very crucial for the team. For the position of left back, Real could rather try young Sergio Reguilon instead of the experienced Marcelo. Reguilon is defensively much stronger and helpful and even though he's not as good as in the attack when compared to the club legend Marcelo, he has a lot of scope for improvement.

Goalkeeper

Starting: Thibaut Courtois.

Bench: Andrey Lunin and Luca Zidane.

It seems that the coach is going to make the tougher but sensible choice of starting the younger and FIFA golden glove winner Thibaut Courtois instead of the man who three times consecutive Champions League winner Keylor Navas. It will make sense to bring Lunin back from loan from Leganes where he barely got playtime.
