Patrick Bamford, the 23-year old on-loan Burnley striker, has issued an apology to the Chelsea fans after facing severe criticism for liking Instagram photos of Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin celebrating Arsenal's 3-0 triumph over the Blues at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

In the Premier League's top attraction of the weekend, Antonio Conte's Chelsea made the short trip across the city to play their London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Despite holding a psychological head-to-head advantage in the recent fixtures over the Gunners, Chelsea were outclassed by Arsene Wenger's men 3-0.

In the immediate aftermath, Ozil posted a selfie with new signings Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez celebrating the win in the dressing room, while Bellerin also posted a snap from the game.

Despite still being contracted with Chelsea, Bamford appeared to 'like' both the pictures - something which didn't go unnoticed by the infuriated Blues supporters, demanding an immediate explanation.

However, clarifying his actions, Bamford insisted that he meant no disrespect and was merely liking some pictures of his friends like he usually does.

"With regards to the Instagram pics I liked, was only liking my friends pics as I've done many a time. No disrespect intended. Sorry!" he tweeted.

Despite being at Chelsea for four years now, having made the switch from Nottingham Forest aged just 18, Bamford is yet to make his full debut in the Premier League for Chelsea, despite being loaned out six times.

Having failed to be recognised as a part of Antonio Conte’s plans, Bamford sealed a late season-long loan switch to Turf Moor, but has so far been able to register just 21 minutes for the Clarets’ first team.
