Former Barcelona player Pedro happy with life at Chelsea

Pedro feels more confident since his move to Chelsea

Chelsea forward Pedro has stated that he is happy with his life in London, despite the fact that Chelsea has started the season indifferently. He joined Chelsea this summer in a £21.4m deal from Barcelona.

Pedro left his boyhood club in order to get more playing time. He had a trophy-laden career with the Blaugrana gathering 20 trophies, which includes three Champions League and five La Liga, in 11 years. Though, he says that he feels more confident since his move to Chelsea. He has scored two goals and also has an assist to his name, in his eight appearances for the club.

"When someone gets to play, they gain rhythm, confidence, you're happier, you try out more things," Pedro said on the Spain national team's website. "Leaving Barca was tough for me but I'm happy with the change."

The Canary Islander thanked his Spanish team-mates at Chelsea, namely, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta, for helping him adjust in the London-based club. "They've been a great support to me," he said. "The adaptation has been quicker given I already knew them from here and they've treated me very well in the dressing room, showing me how the club works."

Pedro started for Spain against Luxembourg in a 4-0 win, which confirmed Spain’s spot in Euro 2016. He played his part in Spain’s first goal, as it was his shot which was parried by Luxembourg’s goalkeeper Joubert, only to allow the onrushing Cazorla to smash home. Though, he missed some goalscoring chances and was subsequently substituted in the 77th minute. La Roja will play their final game against Ukraine in Kiev on Monday.

Pedro also discussed Spain’s horror show in the World Cup. He said, "Obviously we know that we weren't our best at the World Cup, we didn't give a good version of ourselves, but I think the qualifier matches, especially the last two matches against Slovakia and Macedonia, the Spanish National Team has shown a new image and that's the road to follow.

“It's what we want to do, gain rhythm, get in shape and try to conclude our qualifier and then do a great tournament there."

Spain are the defending champions for Euro 2016, having won the last two editions of the continental tournament in 2008 and 2012. Having secured qualification for 2016, they will go on with the intention of defending their title.
