Pep Guardiola's Manchester City ready to splash the cash for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be Premier League-bound

Manchester City are reportedly lining up a mammoth offer to sign Borussia Dortmund front man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Citizens lack options up top and consider the Gabon international as the kind of signing that's needed to challenge for honours.

Pep Guardiola hasn't exactly taken the Premier League by storm losing to Chelsea and defending Champions Leicester City in consecutive game weeks and given he didn't have the chance to call upon Sergio Aguero for the latter of the two games, the lack of squad depth showed.

Sergio Aguero has been the only goal-scoring outlet for Manchester City this season. And even though he missed a few weeks due to injury, as well as being suspended for a few more, the Argentine has scored sixteen goals in nineteen appearances in all competitions.

Aubameyang is one of the hottest strikers in all of Europe with his pace, strength and finishing ability inside the box but has always maintained that he's likely to leave the Ruhr club for pastures new should a good offer come in. The 27-year-old, however, dreams of playing for Madrid giants Real Madrid.

But if Manchester City do tempt Borussia Dortmund with a big offer, he could make the move given he gets to play in arguably the most competitive league in the world as well as the chance to work under one of the most celebrated football coaches of all time in Pep Guardiola.

And given the kind of season he’s having with Thomas Tuchel’s side in the Bundesliga this season, there’s no doubt he’ll bring the fire to the Premier League. Aubameyang has scored nineteen goals in twenty appearances for the club in all competitions and is currently the leading goalscorer in all of Europe even ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester City would look a whole different side with Aubameyang in their team but they’re not only interested in reinforcing the striking department. Pep Guardiola is reportedly ready to bid massively to sign an established defender, another midfielder capable of playing the passes through the channels and another goalkeeper given the experiment with Claudio Bravo hasn’t worked out as planned.

Joe Hart isn’t going to come back to Manchester City and Pep needs to seriously consider a host of sweeper-keeper options if he’s to continue his good work. Barcelona are unlikely to sell Marc-Andre Ter Stegen while Bayern Munich will pretty much laugh off any offer for Manuel Neuer.
