Last season, Fred was a key man for Shakhtar Donetsk because of his solid performances in midfield. He was also the only notable transfer for Manchester United in the summer transfer window. Despite being the only new high-profile addition for United, the Brazilian has failed to cement a starting place on the squad so far.
The 25-year-old was given enough chances at the start of the season by Jose Mourinho. Unfortunately, he gradually fell out of favour under the manager after a series of below-par performances. When United faced Liverpool in their most recent game, Fred could not even start ahead of Scott McTominay and was one of the unused subs under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
