The Premier League is considered to be one of the most competitive leagues in the world. This current season, Liverpool and Manchester City are the prime contenders for the title. Before December, Manchester City looked quite set to clinch their second consecutive title but 3 sudden losses in 4 games, hampered their progress.

Liverpool took full advantage of it and leapfrogged them to claim the top spot in the league. In the home leg, Manchester City defeated Liverpool, by 2-1. At the moment, both sides are separated by only four points.

Here are the four fixtures that might be the biggest tests for Liverpool.

#1 Wolverhampton Wanderers v Liverpool (May 12, 2019)

This season, Wolves have beaten some top clubs in the league. Only Liverpool from the 'big six' clubs of the league, has beaten them so far. Wolves have recently knocked out Liverpool from the FA Cup, in the third round and shown the world that they can beat anyone on a given day. The clubs will meet again, in the final game of the season and it would be quite the tricky game for Liverpool.

#2 Manchester United VS Liverpool (February 24, 2019)

In the last fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United, a comfortable 3-1 victory by Liverpool resulted in the sacking of Manchester United Coach, José Mourinho. Such was the impact of that game.

Manchester United is looking rejuvenated under the new coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The club has recently beaten Tottenham and has won 6 consecutive league matches, for the first time in the season. The new coach has instructed the team to play attacking football. So, this fixture might turn out to be a high-scoring game.

#3 Chelsea VS Liverpool (April 13, 2019)

Always a tough battle between the Kop and Blues

Liverpool and Chelsea have already played against each other at Stamford Bridge, on 29th September 2018 and a late strike by Daniel Sturridge helped Liverpool to salvage a draw. It could have been the first league loss for Liverpool, before being beaten by Manchester City later on.

Chelsea, under coach Maurizio Sarri, is quite capable of beating Liverpool and they follow the tiki-taka style of football whereas, Liverpool is known to play counter-attacking football. So, a draw might be a fair result for Chelsea whereas it might be a lost opportunity for Liverpool.

#4 Liverpool VS Tottenham (March 30, 2019)

When the teams encountered each other at Wembley Stadium on September 15, 2018 Georginio Wijnaldum as well as Roberto Firmino were on target for Liverpool and Erik Lamela scored the consolation goal for Tottenham. This game against Liverpool would be a big one for Tottenham, as they would like to secure a third consecutive Champions League qualification and for Liverpool, it would be a chance to increase the gap from their title rivals.
