Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester City - Premier League
City equalised thanks to Aymeric Laporte

Ederson- 6

He wasn’t really tested too much by Wolves throughout the afternoon and didn’t really have any chance with the goal. His distribution was faultless, but that is what we have come to expect from him.

Kyle Walker- 6

We didn’t see too much of Walker going forward, but he did a job defensively. He will have wanted to get forward more but was pinned back by Diogo Jota.

Vincent Kompany- 5

Injury and age seem to be having an impact on Kompany. He was booked for a poorly timed rash challenge in the first half and isn’t as capable in possession as some of his other teammates.

Aymeric Laporte- 6

He looked strong enough defensively though, and continues to be comfortable in possession, which is exactly why Pep Guardiola wanted to bring him to the club. Scored a powerful header to bring his side level as well.

Benjamin Mendy- 5

He was a threat as ever going forward, but Helder Costa caused him a few problems going the other way, and at times he struggled to deal with him. The less said about his foul throw the better.

Fernandinho- 6

You know what you’re going to get with Fernandinho on the pitch. He broke up play well in front of his defence, and kept it easy in possession, allowing the more talented players to get the ball forward.

Ilkay Gundogan- 6

We didn’t really see too much of Gundogan in his time on the pitch, and it felt a bit like he was struggling to find his role in midfield. In the end, was replaced by Leroy Sane as City pushed for a late winner.

David Silva- 7

This man just doesn’t seem to have a bad game. He may not have had the same impact that he did against Huddersfield last week, but he was again a big part of how City played and was excellent in possession.

Raheem Sterling- 7

Was a constant threat to Wolves in the first half, and looked right up for it. He was unfortunate to be denied a brilliant opener by Patricio but was replaced by Riyad Mahrez late on.

Bernardo Silva- 6

We saw flashes of brilliance from Bernardo throughout the first half, but less so after the break. He needs to up his game given the injury to Kevin de Bruyne but was replaced by Gabriel Jesus after an hour.

Sergio Aguero- 5

This may be a game Aguero wishes to forget after his hat-trick last week. Fired a shot against the post in the first half when he really should have scored, and then was lucky to escape punishment for what looked a clear dive midway through the second half. Was inches away from getting the winner in the final minute when he struck the bar.

Substitutes:

Gabriel Jesus- 5

Came on midway through the second half to give City extra firepower, but he saw very little of the ball. Had a brilliant chance to win the game, but headed straight at Patricio.

Leroy Sane- 5

Had a bit of a stinker when he came on. Didn’t have too many touches, but when he did, he didn’t look his usual self. He finally came to the party at the last minute with an excellent run, taking on three players out on the left.

Riyad Mahrez- N/A

Didn’t spend enough time on the pitch.
