Tottenham’s young right-back Kyle Walker-Peters has been kicking around Mauricio Pochettino’s first team for a while now, but last season was the first time we saw him with some real opportunities. We saw the best of him and the worst of him, too; his mistake allowed Ousmane Dembele to open the scoring when Spurs took on Barcelona at the Nou Camp, but then he created 3 of Spurs’ 5 goals when they defeated Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

This season should theoretically see Walker-Peters given even more opportunities to star in the first team at Tottenham’s new stadium. First-choice right-back Kieran Trippier has been sold to Atletico Madrid and while Serge Aurier remains at Tottenham, Pochettino has shown a distrust of the Ivorian defender ever since he arrived at the club back in 2017, which means that with a good start to the season, Walker-Peters could well establish himself as one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet.

The good thing for Spurs fans is that Walker-Peters has all the tools to become one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. He’s quick, athletically gifted and has a great delivery from the right side of the pitch. And given Tottenham have rebuffed any offers for him – whether that’s a loan or a permanent move – it seems the future is bright for the England u20 World Cup winner.
