Former Arsenal player Santi Cazorla has urged the fans and the board to give Unai Emery some more time, as he believes that the 48-year-old is the perfect man for the job.

The Gunners are currently 6th in the Premier League and are 17 points adrift of Liverpool, who sit at the top of the table. But former fan favorite Cazorla believes that Emery is a very good coach who has built a balanced squad, and that if accorded more time he could do wonders.

Cazorla also implied that it is tough to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool considering the fact that Arsenal are currently in a transition phase.

Talking about the under-fire Arsenal manager, Cazorla said:

"Unai Emery is a good coach and it's a very good team. I watch them play often, but he needs time. It's a new generation and it's very difficult to compete against teams like Manchester City and Liverpool.
"It's difficult to know [what has gone wrong]. They have the players, they have the fans, the stadium, they have everything to do it but they have to believe it."

The Arsenal dressing room is into shambles right now after their recent performances and the captaincy row. Granit Xhaka has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, and the controversy surrounding him has adversely impacted the morale of the fans.

To add to that, Arsenal's results have been downright poor lately. Trouble seems to be brewing on all fronts, and it's tough to imagine where the upturn in fortunes is going to come from.

Against this backdrop, sacking the manager might blow things out of proportion even further. Cazorla's word's seem to make sense from that viewpoint, and the Arsenal fans would be hoping that his prediction about Emery comes true.
