Karim Benzema to Chelsea, Varane to Manchester United and more: Premier League transfer news – 6 February 2018

Real Madrid v Tottenham Hotspur - UEFA Champions League
Varane is in the news today

The transfer window might have ended but the rumours are still flowing in. Here, we'll take a look at the transfer rumours involving the Premier League sides on 6th February 2018.

Without further ado, here we go!

#5 Nicolai Jorgensen speaks over failed move

Remember the name? Newcastle were linked with a host of strikers in the transfer window and one of them was Nicolai Jorgensen. However, the move never materialized and Jorgensen has spoken about it for the first time since the window slammed shut.

“It was more of a matter for my agent and the club, you hear a lot, try to focus, but you’re also a bit confused,” Jorgensen told Dutch outlet NOS via Chronicle.
“As long as I am here, I give everything, I am happy here and I am proud to play for Feyenoord, and when the day comes, it is apparently the right time.
“It’s a dream for every footballer to play in the Premier League, if I keep working hard, there will be a club, I can also compete in another league, I think I’m ready for a next step, but now I’m at Feyenoord.”

#4 Liverpool and West Brom

Real Madrid CF v AS Roma - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg
Liverpool's goalkeeping conundrum has put them in worry

So we will start with West Brom first. James McClean was reportedly the subject of an offer made in the January transfer window, but the club rejected it, according to himself

“There was no loan offer from Derby. It was a permanent deal but it didn’t materialise. West Brom had their value and I’m not in the game to dictate my value – that’s up to clubs to do.
“I think West Brom wanted £15 million but Derby weren’t prepared to pay that -whether I think that’s wrong or not, it’s not up to me to say,” he was quoted by Independent.ie.

Meanwhile, Diario Gol claims that Liverpool made an offer for Keylor Navas to Real Madrid, but the player rejected the move as he didn’t want to go to Liverpool.

#3 Arsenal mania

Juventus v Benevento Calcio - Serie A
Rugani is a great talent

Woah, it seems like the Manchester madness has some genuine competition now. After the transfer window slammed shut, Arsene Wenger confessed that his defence is still weak but also added that Arsenal don’t have the financial muscle to compete with the Manchester clubs.

It seems like he was speaking the truth as the agent of Juventus defender, Daniele Rugani, told Radio Sportiva—via Sportsmole—that his client has attracted the interest of Arsenal.

"Daniele's doing well, I'm happy for him," said agent Davide Torchia.

"Arsenal? They didn't launch any assaults for him. They expressed a liking for him, but we have respect for Juventus."

Meanwhile, Mirror claims that Arsenal are expecting a tough time with regards to Aaron Ramsey’s contract negotiations due to the fact that the midfielder might want a huge hike in wages because of the amount of money Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are earning at the club now.

#2 Nobody wants Benzema (Okay, maybe Chelsea might)

Levante v Real Madrid - La Liga
A man out of form

At one stage in his career, Benzema was among the most wanted players in the world. At that time, he was a youngster at Lyon who was setting the world on fire with his innate talent. However, as of late, he has been on the decline and Madrid seem to have lost their patience if reports from Diario Gol are to be believed.

They say that Madrid want to sell Benzema and have 5 ways to go about that, of which, for the sake of relevance, only three will be discussed here.

One: Madrid will offer him to Chelsea to ease the financial aspect of bringing Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu. Apparently, Perez loves the Belgian.

Second: They will offer him to Tottenham in order to lower the price of Harry Kane, but the Lilywhites are firm in their stand to not sell the forward.

And three: Offering him to Manchester United to do the same with David De Gea, but it doesn't look like Mourinho will want him.

#1 Manchester madness

Real Madrid Audi Car Handover
Mourinho likes him

Another day, another player gets linked to the Red Devils. While Mourinho might have a history of buying already developed players, it seems as though he is having a change of strategy—which is why United are being linked with younger players consistently.

According to Daily Mail, Wilson Tilve has been handed a trial Manchester United. The 16-year-old is a left-footed midfielder who has been tipped to be the next James Rodriguez. Should he be signed, it will be the fourth player added to United’s academy after Aliou Traore, Di’Shon Bernard and Arnau Puigmal.

Meanwhile, Don Balon claims that Real Madrid could offer Raphael Varane to Manchester United to pave way for David De Gea to come to the Bernabeu.
