Pique knows everything it seems

Hello and welcome to the Premier League transfer roundup of today. The transfer window might have closed but the rumour mill is still buzzing. Let's take a look at the transfer rumours involving Premier League teams that made headlines on 7 February 2018.

So let's begin!

#5 Frank De Boer’s revelation

Former Crystal Palace manager Frank De Boer has lifted the lid on the club’s alleged pursuit of Quincy Promes, stating that the club didn’t have the funds to sign the player.

“The Premier League is a very good option for Quincy. A really good player. When I was at Palace, we watched him closely. I wanted him at Palace, but we didn’t have much money,” he told Sport-Express.
“The club have previously spent €38m on Christian Benteke last season, so they told me they couldn’t afford to pay €30m for Promes. That’s the reason why the deal collapsed.”

#4 West Ham and Everton

Evra back in England?

So here we go. After being at war with Everton, West Ham have reportedly completed the signing of Patrice Evra on a free transfer, as per Sky Sport. The Frenchman has been a free agent ever since his contract was rescinded by Marseille after the former Manchester United star assaulted a fan in the stadium.

Meanwhile, there is more rejection news involving Everton. Apparently, the Merseyside outfit wanted to sign Espanyol star Mario Hermoso for €8 million, but the Catalan outfit rejected it as they are waiting for the player’s price to go above €15 million, according to Sport.

#3 Managerial changes in London

Next Chelsea manager?

Maurizio Sarri is being linked to Arsenal, according to Federico Pastorello.

“Sarri? Arsenal are mainly being talked about for him,” the renowned agent told Tuttosport via Football Italia.

Meanwhile, former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is “one step away” from becoming the next coach of Chelsea. Antonio Conte is set to be sacked, say Sport, after a torrid start to the year with Chelsea winning only twice in 2018, so far.

And guess what, Enrique’s first assignment with Chelsea could be the clash against Barcelona in the Champions League.

#2 Nobody wants Gareth Bale (Okay maybe Chelsea do)

According to the folks at Diario Gol, Real Madrid want to sign Eden Hazard and are likely to let go of Gareth Bale in order to facilitate the move. While Manchester United were linked with him earlier, Jose Mourinho’s admission about not signing any forwards in the summer has closed that door for Bale.

Then there is Tottenham. However, Spurs don’t value him at more than €60 million, which is way below Madrid’s valuation of €90 million.

So as a result, a swap deal with Chelsea isn’t seen as a bad option by the Welshman, especially as he is desperate to return to the Premier League.

Ah, life. Manchester United are in the mix today and it is once again about David De Gea. The goalkeeper is the subject of intense speculation and The Sun have what is potentially bad news for the Red Devils’ fans.

Apparently, the goalkeeper is set to ask for at least £375,000-per-week in order to extend his contract at Old Trafford. The signing and the wages offered to the Chilean has made De Gea ask for that humongous amount, according to the report.
