Hello and welcome to the Premier League latest transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories of the day surrounding the Premier League!

#5 Sheth on Chelsea

Sky pundit Dharmesh Sheth has spoken of Higuain’s reported transfer to Chelsea. The Blues, according to Sarri himself, are close to bringing Higuain on loan and Sheth believes that it is a deal that pleases all parties.

For starters, Sarri gets the player he always wanted and Chelsea won’t really have to commit to him in the long term, which means they don’t have to spend much over him either.

"Higuain, we know from the start, has been Sarri's choice and this deal, if you look at the logistics of it, it effectively works for everyone," he said.

"Sarri gets his man, Chelsea aren't committed to a long-term deal for big money so are minimising risk but that aside, the Higuain deal is something that Sarri has wanted for a long time.

"Despite the reservations from Granovskaia, I think it's a win-win for everyone there.”

He also revealed that Higuain will come with the option to extend his deal for another 12 months should the Blues want to do it. Sheth further added that the Londoners are still searching the market for a long-term solution for their striker conundrum and would “definitely” try to get someone in the summer.

"At the end of the season, if he performs terrifically well, it's just an option to extend the loan for another 12 months.

"So whatever loan fees are involved as opposed to paying a permanent transfer fee for him.

"You can be sure that Chelsea are scouring the market right now for a long-term solution for their striker issues. Perhaps not this month but definitely for the summer, that's for sure."

#4 Arsenal and Newcastle

Arsenal won't be signing him

Arsenal had been linked with a move for Denis Suarez but it seems as though it might not happen after all. According to Guillem Balague, the Gunners have decided to pull out of the loan deal as Barcelona wanted to include an obligatory buy-out clause in it.

“Denis Suarez has decided to stay at #FCB at least till the end of the season after it became clear that #AFC would not agree the €20-25m obligatory clause to buy after the loan that Barcelona wanted to include in the deal,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, journalist Lee Ryder has claimed that Newcastle have made a loan offer for Monaco’s Antonio Barreca and added that sources at the French club confirmed it to him.

“#nufc have also submitted their loan offer for Antonio Barreca of Monaco with sources at the struggling Ligue 1 club confirming United’s interest to us,” he said.

#3 Manchester madness

Back on radar
Back on radar

Manchester United are doing the right things on the pitch under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Last month, it didn’t look like the Red Devils would qualify for the Champions League but now, even a top three finish looks like a possibility.

And they might be using the winter window to make the possibility a reality. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United are once again trying to sign Ivan Perisic as Inter aren’t refusing to rule out a move for the Croat winger.

Meanwhile, the rather reliable Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that both Juventus and Inter have cooled down their interest in Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian.

The reason being, the Red Devils apparently asked for a bit too much for the Italian as they want €6 million in loan fee for the player – and that hasn’t gone down too well for them...

#2 Tottenham

No change in stance

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Spurs won’t be forced to change transfer policy because of the injuries to Dele Alli and Harry Kane. The Lilywhites are without three key players, which also includes Heung-min Son who is in the UAE representing South Korea in the AFC Asian Cup, but even then they won’t bend on principles.

The Argentine made it clear that while he is open to improving the squad, he is not a fan of bit-part signings to replace injured players for the time being.

“It is so clear, I am so open to improve the squad and add a player if Harry Kane and Dele Alli are fit or not fit. I was open in the summer and I am open now,” he said.

“The difficult thing is to find quality that will add to the squad. We are not going to change strategy, we are working, we will see what happens at the end.”

Liverpool have been rather quiet in the winter market apart from departures. The Reds aren’t expected to sign anyone in the winter but it hasn’t stopped the stories coming to life.

According to Bild, Liverpool have made a late attempt to try and sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea. The Bavarians are also interested in the player but the Blues have, so far, resisted them. That, however, hasn’t stopped the Reds from trying.

Meanwhile, according to the folks at Don Balon, PSG star Neymar has actually asked Real Madrid to sign Roberto Firmino from the Merseyside outfit as he wants to team up with his Brazilian team-mate at the Santiago Bernabeu. The report also adds that the Anfield outfit rate him at €80 million, which is not really much in this market.
