Premier League transfer news: Man United pushing for Bale, Chelsea want their former attacker, and more, 8th January 2018

Liverpool v Swansea City - Premier League
Back to Liverpool?

The whirlwind generated by the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona is still prevalent. The domino effect, earlier started by Neymar's record-breaking move to PSG, could see some more big money moves in the coming weeks.

Once again, the top clubs feature heavily today, but there is also a bit of fight from relegation-battlers, Swansea.

So without further ado, should we begin? Yes? No? Obviously, we shall…

#5 Leicester-Everton and West Brom

Why did I hyphenate two completely different clubs? Because they are linked with one player from Portugal. This said player—Rafa Silva—was once dubbed as the Portuguese Eden Hazard, which is absurd because Hazard was once labelled as the Belgian Cristiano Ronaldo—so shouldn’t Rafa Silva be the next Ronaldo?

Anyways, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola, the player, who is having a mare at Benfica, is generating a lot of interest from Leicester City and Everton. He is currently available on a loan until the end of the season with a £26.5 million buy-out clause.

Meanwhile, West Brom have made a £5 million bid for Trabzonspor forward Hugo Rodallega, who previously played in the Premier League whilst representing Fulham and Wigan, say Turkish outlet Gunes.

Evans is on the radar of United too

Okay, so this features almost all the London clubs. According to Simon Stone of BBC, Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola are highly interested in West Brom defender Jonny Evans. However, Wenger seems to have the edge as he is willing to offer £25 million and Mathieu Debuchy for the Englishman.

Meanwhile, according to the Mirror, Arsenal are willing to sell Francis Coquelin and West Ham are one of the clubs interested in acquiring his services. The Gunners apparently want only £10 million for the midfielder.

Chelsea have a history of letting go of players and then regretting later (Salah and De Bruyne) and they don’t want that to happen again as they are interested in bringing back Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach, claim the Bild. They had a £13 million buy-back, but that has expired and will have to cough up more.

#3 The Swans’ grace

Dundee United v Celtic - Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership
Griffiths could save Swansea

Battling relegation is never an easy thing. Indeed, the clubs that are in that zone during the winter period almost often look to sign a lot of players to get them out of the quagmire. Swansea City are at the bottom and are looking at two players to help them out it.

According to Daily Mail, Swansea are looking at Fulham full-back Ryan Sess- I mean, Ryan Fredericks to solve their right-side conundrums. His contract expires at the end of the season and he could be available now for somewhere around £3 million.

Meanwhile, it seems as though Celtic are a favourite prey for Premier League clubs as their striker Leigh Griffiths is being targeted by the Swans. The forward is rated at £7 million, but might cost more than that, say Daily Mail.

#2 Liverpool’s lavishness

An early union with Liverpool would be nice

Yeah, I am going to make this a thing. Right now, Liverpool are one of the most active clubs in the transfer rumour section after selling Coutinho for £142 million.

So obviously, a lot of players will be linked to the Reds and one such player is Naby Keita. Wait, what? Hasn’t he been signed already? Yes, he has, but he comes in the summer and the Anfield outfit want him now, according to the Telegraph.

Also, Brazilian journalist Gustavo Fogaca Guffo says that Liverpool could announce the signing of Roma goalkeeper Alisson in this window.

Meanwhile, the Reds are still actively seeking a Coutinho replacement and have contacted Barca for… Coutinho. According to the Mail, Liverpool have asked whether the Catalans would be willing to loan him back to the club until the end of the season.

Imagine Barca saying yes to that…

#1 The United madness

Real Madrid v Atletico de Madrid - UEFA Champions League Final
Mourinho's obsessions?

Oxygen is necessary for us to survive, Manchester United are necessary for us to live. It is because of them that I can satiate my hunger and it is because of them that this space has a soul.

Gareth Bale deal is apparently on as Jose Mourinho is desperate to land him in January. Apparently, the Portuguese has pressurised Ed Woodward to convince Madrid into selling him.

He scored two goals last night against Celta, so that might add another £10-20 million to his name.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim that Paris-Saint Germain outcast might be given an escape plan after all as Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, who is trapped in Paris.
