Solskjaer on Valencia and De Gea

Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t sure whether Manchester United can agree upon a new deal with Antonio Valencia.

"At the moment I'm not sure if Man United and Antonio will agree on [a deal for] the next year,” he said.

Meanwhile, David De Gea is yet to sign a new deal with the Red Devils as his contractual situation still hangs in the balance. The Old Trafford have been trying to tie him up to a new for a year now but it seems as though things aren’t happening according to plan.

And Solskjaer has claimed that the player and the club are in talks about it and that whatever happens is out of his hands. He also added that he hopes that De Gea signs a new deal.

"There are no updates from me. The club and David are in dialogue. Hopefully they'll agree. It's out of my hands, but I'm sure we'll do what we can.

"David has done fantastic since he came, the club really showed how much they wanted him when Eric [Steele] and the gaffer found him.”

Meunier wants to play more

Thomas Meunier has claimed that he would like to play more amid stories linking him to Everton. The Belgian hasn’t enjoyed many minutes this season, which is why he could opt to leave in order to play more football.

And now, he has suggested that he is open to the idea of joining clubs like if it means that he could play more.

“Go down a notch? What does that mean? It’s playing in a club in the style of Everton, Valencia or Dortmund,” he said.

“Michy Batshuayi made a very good choice by going there. The pleasure is to play football and that’s what I miss for now.”

Rodgers opens up

Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has opened up about why he opted to join Leicester City from Celtic. Rodgers had been signed by the Foxes after they sacked Claude Puel and he now claims that it was a really difficult decision to leave Celtic.

He also added that he simply couldn’t say no to Leicester as he thought that he could help the club and also revealed that he got many offers from other clubs during his time with the Celts.

"It was a very difficult decision," he said, opening his first press conference as Leicester manager. "If I was making it with my heart, I’d be at Celtic for life because it’s an incredible club, one I’ve supported for my life,” he said.

"I felt it was time to move on to my next challenge. I've had opportunities to leave in three years at Celtic but this was too good to turn down; to come to the club with the ambition and the infrastructure that allows me to work with a group of players that are young and hungry.

"They have needed stabilising because of the emotions winning the league and of the tragedy earlier on (this season). I felt I could help.
