Former Roma director of football, Monchi, has thanked Arsenal for the interest they showed for him. The Spaniard mutually terminated his contract in Rome and was linked with a move to Arsenal as well as Real Madrid.

However, he ended up at the club where he became a renowned figure – Sevilla – completing a beautiful cycle. And now, he has revealed that the Gunners were seriously interested in him but that he chose Sevilla after careful considerations as their project convinced him the most.

He also stated that there was no truth in stories linking him to the Galacticos.

“With Madrid, there has been nothing. The offers have come from other places. Arsenal was the club that showed the most interest. In the end, I made the decision to accept the call of Seville because professionally, it was the best,” he said.
