Hello and welcome to the Premier League latest transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the top stories surrounding the Premier League tonight!

#5 Sarri speaks on transfers

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has stated that he doesn’t know much on the club’s dealings in the transfer market. The Blues seem to be the busiest club in the market as they have not only been linked with some players but could have some players on the departures list as well.

However, the former Napoli manager seems to be clueless on what could happen as he claimed that Chelsea director Marina Granovskia is the pulling the strings in the market and that he doesn’t call her every day for updates regarding it.

"I don't know. I want to be clear because I cannot help you. I spoke with Marina two weeks ago, so Marina knows very well my opinion on how to improve the team,” Sarri said.

"I don't call her every evening, otherwise I spend all my mental energy on the market and I think it's better if I spend all my mental energies on the pitch."

Speaking of Morata, he claimed that it is “normal” for players to be available in the market. The Spaniard was omitted from the match against Newcastle, fueling rumours of an exit.

"For him, I think it's a very difficult moment, but it's normal for a player in January to be in the market," added Sarri.

Finally, he lauded Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is linked to Bayern, and his mental strength but claimed that he can’t resolve the Englishman’s situation.

"I don't want to talk with him about something I cannot resolve," Sarri said. "Mentally he's in a very positive moment. On the pitch we are very happy. He has improved a lot in the last two months."

#4 Merson on Wilson

Wilson not worth as much
Wilson not worth as much

Callum Wilson has been good for Bournemouth this season so far. The forward has scored 9 times in 20 games in the Premier League thus far and has topped it off with five assists to his name as well.

As a result, there is a lot of interest in him as West Ham have been the club most linked to the Englishman. The price quoted for him, however, is on the high end as Bournemouth want £75 million, an amount that doesn’t really make sense to Paul Merson.

While he believes that Wilson is a good player, he is not worth the money quoted for him.

"Who could they replace him with? Callum Wilson is a good player who has international class movement,” Merson stated.

"But for the price Bournemouth want, you’d expect 20 goals a season. I don’t think he gives you that."

#3 Ozil should be sold if he gets a good offer, feels former Arsenal star

Former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas is of the opinion that Mesut Ozil should consider leaving the Gunners if he gets a big offer from China. The German doesn’t seem to be fitting Unai Emery’s plans, prompting stories of him being sold.

Meanwhile, Nicholas hopes that the Londoners sell Aaron Ramsey immediately and earn some cash from it. He also added that the former Real Madrid man’s time is up at the Emirates and he should consider moving to China.

“Hopefully Juventus will take Ramsey immediately and Arsenal get some money for him. Ozil does not fit Emery's plans, so you get the agent in and look for him to go elsewhere,” he said.

“Ozil has amazing talent and is popular in the dressing room but his time is up and he must move on. If the Chinese clubs are interested in Arnautovic then they should be interested in Ozil.”

#2 Coutinho and James Rodriguez on the move?

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to speak about the reported stories of Manchester United wanting Philippe Coutinho. The German stated that he had nothing to add to it since Coutinho is in Barca – a place that suits him.

“Nothing to say. Whatever I say would open more stories and there is no story,” he insisted. “Phil is at Barcelona and as I know he fits really well and everything is fine.”

Meanwhile, Don Balon report that Arsenal want to sign James Rodriguez, who is still owned by Real Madrid but is on loan at Bayern Munich, and are willing to exchange Mesut Ozil, who, as we have already mentioned, is not going through the best of times at the Emirates.

The report adds that while the deal could be set up in the winter, the move would happen in the summer.

#1 Manchester madness ft. Spurs

Wayne Rooney wants Pochettino at Man United

Former Manchester United superstar Wayne Rooney thinks that the Red Devils should try to sign Mauricio Pochettino as their manager in the summer. His reasoning is that the Argentine is very good at bringing the best out of his players.

“United have based themselves on youth players, young players, bringing players through. I think [Pochettino] gets the best out of his players whether they are younger or older,” Rooney said.

Meanwhile, Don Balon reveal that Pep Guardiola is eying a move for Christian Eriksen. The Dane’s contract ends in the summer of 2020, which makes the Citizens believe that they can sign him for somewhere around €80 million.

As a result, the Etihad outfit have set aside that amount for the former Ajax star.
