Premier League: 'What he’s just done tonight is another level'- Manchester United legend reacts to Kompany's strike against Leicester City

Manchester City grabbed a hard-fought victory against Leicester City yesterday

What's the story?

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has hailed Vincent Kompany for his majestic winner against Leicester City last night.

Neville also compared last night's match-winner with Sergio Aguero's famous title-deciding goal back in 2012.

In case you didn't know

Manchester City remain a class above other Premier League teams and they consistently prove that. After winning the league title with 100 points last season, City are just a game away from winning another Premier League title. Pep Guardiola and his men are top of the league table with 95 points from 37 games. Liverpool remain the only side close to catching City, as they are just a point behind the league leaders.

Vincent Kompany helped Manchester City take another step towards their second consecutive league title with a majestic strike against Leicester City last night. After dominating proceedings for 70 minutes, City failed to open the scoring until Kompany took matters in his own hands. From almost 30 yards out, the center-back struck a thunderbolt rendering Leicester City goalkeeper toying in thin air.

There is no doubt that we are witnessing one of the closest title races in recent years and Kompany's majestic strike may well be a title-deciding one. Sergio Aguero scored an era-defining goal back in 2012 in the extra time of the last game of the league to ensure City's first Premier League title.

The heart of the matter

Neville was quick to heap praises on Kompany after his brilliant goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said:

"I was in this stadium when the Aguero goal went in and obviously for these fans out here it can never get any better than that. But that’s just run it very close."
"Kompany is a City hero, a giant at this club, he has been for 10 years. He’s someone that I think everybody looks up to and respects."
"Kompany is outstanding on the pitch off the pitch. What he’s just done tonight is another level."
"You could have thought of a million ways that football game would have been decided tonight and that wouldn’t have been one of them."

What's next?

Manchester City will face Brighton next in the Premier League.
