Real Madrid Player Ratings

Courtois saved Los Blancos the blushes of a heavy defeat
Courtois saved Los Blancos the blushes of a heavy defeat

Thibaut Courtois - 8.5/10

Real Madrid's undisputed star of the evening had a staggering eight saves on the night, including one to keep out Messi from 12 yards. Without him, this could've been a blow-out for the visitors.

Daniel Carvajal - 5/10

He started off strong, making some crucial interceptions and blocks, but lost control thereafter, with Mbappe giving him a hard time. Carvajal also conceded a penalty in the second-half but Courtois bailed him out with a fantastic save.

Eder Militao - 6/10

With PSG throwing the kitchen sink, Militao had to be alert at all times. He did a decent job. He blocked three shots, made two clearances, and completed four tackles.

David Alaba - 7.5/10

The Austrian was their best defender on the night while also playing out from the back to help get his side forward.

Ferland Mendy - 6/10

Much of PSG's attack stemmed from the other flank but Mendy, regardless, struggled to make an impact. He was also shown a yellow, suspending him from the return leg.

Luka Modric - 6.5/10

The midfield maestro looked set to break down PSG's movement with perfectly-timed tackles and interceptions. But when in possession, the Croatian looked to have run out of ideas.

Casemiro - 7/10

Real Madrid's midfield engine Casemiro did all the dirty work for his side and fed the attackers with nine long balls but no luck on the night. He's also suspended from the Bernabeu leg after picking up a yellow in the match.

Toni Kroos - 6/10

So often the possession master, Kroos simply couldn't get to grips with the match on the night.

Marco Asensio - 4/10

It was hard to find him on the pitch, as Asensio was totally anonymous, failing to register a single effort in 72 minutes of action.

Karim Benzema - 5/10

The Frenchman's injury must have certainly played a part here for he hasn't looked this bad at any point this season.

Vinicius Junior - 4/10

The Brazilian was fit but not firing, dropping a stinker at the worst possible time.

Substitutes

Lucas Vazquez - 5/10

The Spaniard hardly offered anything to spice up their sordid attack.

Rodrygo - 5/10

Hs only noteable moment was being shown a yellow for his part in a skirmish with Kimpembe.

Federico Valverde - N/A

The Uruguayan was also a total non-factor.

Eden Hazard - N/A

Not enough time to make an impact.

Gareth Bale - N/A

The Welshman also had just a few minutes left on the clock when he came on.
