Before Wednesday evening, no team had ever let a two away goal cushion slip since the inception of the Champions League. Yet, after a hundred minutes of riveting football, PSG found themselves at the forefront of an unwanted record.

In the 90th minute, Diogo Dalot’s fierce strike deflected off Presnel Kimpembe. Though it looked innocuous at first glance, on further inspection, the referee deemed it sufficient to award Manchester United a penalty.

With the pressure of millions on his shoulders, Rashford stepped up and coolly smashed the ball past Buffon.

Prior to the penalty incident, the Red Devils had managed the game superbly. The visitors could’ve thrown caution to the wind and left themselves exposed at the back. However, nothing of the sort happened and they were rewarded for their perseverance deep into the game.

With each passing week, Solskjaer is portraying the enormous number of aces he has up his sleeve. Fortunately for United, his trump cards are showing no signs of getting exhausted.

And in sync with him, the Red Devils too displayed a penchant for a late, late goal.
