PSG were once again knocked out of the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen, third time in a row, and this time it was by an injury-hit Manchester United. The French Ligue 1 side came into this second leg on the back of a stunning 2-0 win at the Old Trafford in the first leg and lost the second leg at home 1-3 and thus got eliminated by the away goal rule.

This is the first time in 106 occasions that a team won the first leg of a knockout stage game 2-0 away from home and failed to go through to the next round. However, history was made after the stoppage-time penalty kick from Marcus Rashford which gave the Red devil’s third away goal and a 3-1 win in the night.

Since the Wednesday night calamity in Paris, a lot has been said about PSG’s failure and a lot of fingers were pointed at their young superstar, Mbappé, who missed a glorious opportunity at the 83rd minute of the game to seal the game and the tie.
