PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé admits that he is struggling to sleep since the defeat against Manchester United

What's the story?

The 20-year-old PSG superstar revealed that he has been struggling to sleep since there shocking defeat against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen tie last week. He also added that his PSG teammates are also suffering from this Manchester United caused insomnia.

In case you didn’t know….

PSG were once again knocked out of the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen, third time in a row, and this time it was by an injury-hit Manchester United. The French Ligue 1 side came into this second leg on the back of a stunning 2-0 win at the Old Trafford in the first leg and lost the second leg at home 1-3 and thus got eliminated by the away goal rule.

This is the first time in 106 occasions that a team won the first leg of a knockout stage game 2-0 away from home and failed to go through to the next round. However, history was made after the stoppage-time penalty kick from Marcus Rashford which gave the Red devil’s third away goal and a 3-1 win in the night.

Since the Wednesday night calamity in Paris, a lot has been said about PSG’s failure and a lot of fingers were pointed at their young superstar, Mbappé, who missed a glorious opportunity at the 83rd minute of the game to seal the game and the tie.

The heart of the matter…

In a recent interview with the French twitter based football programme, Mbappé admitted that he has difficulty in sleeping at night since the shocking defeat.

Speaking to Telefoot, the World Cup winner with France revealed the result had left him unable to sleep, saying:

"We are stunned. There are no words.
"I have not managed to sleep. I think it has been the same for everybody else.
"We had worked hard to arrive at this moment. We are disappointed. We ruined the party."

He also said that his teammates are also suffering from the same. Speaking about the future, the PSG goal machine revealed that he still has faith in the “PSG project” and will remain in PSG at the start of the next season.

What’s next?

PSG have a midweek fixture against Dijon FCO in Ligue 1 where they have an impregnable lead of 14 points with two games in hand. It will be intriguing to see how Mbappé and his colleagues will react at Parc des Princes.
