QPR sack Mark Hughes

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that the club has sacked Mark Hughes as their manager with immediate effect.

The announcement was made on the club’s official Twitter account, with Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki set to take charge of the Rangers when they visit Manchester United on Saturday.

The Daily Mail and The Telegraph report the Harry Redknapp is set to take charge of the team, with even betting suspended on all betting sites.

QPR were under increasing pressure to fire Mark Hughes with the team yet to win a match in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp, who was long linked with the club, was approached by Ukraine to take charge of the national team, which the former Spurs manager was considering.

He even issued an ultimatum of sorts to QPR by claiming he would wait till Sunday before deciding on the Ukraine offer.

That seems to have pushed owner Tony Fernandes over the edge, who was till only recently backing Hughes steadfastly.

Hughes becomes the second manager to be sacked in as many days, with local rivals Chelsea also sacking Roberto Di Matteo on Wednesday.
