#1 Frenkie de Jong

Despite it only being his first season at the club, Frenkie de Jong has been a natural fit for the Catalan side. He has become a regular starter along with fellow young superstar Arthur Melo and veteran pivot Sergio Busquets.

While still only being 22 years of age, de Jong is already considered one of the best midfielders in the world. He was even named on the 2019 FIFA FIFPro World XI, due to his integral role in Ajax's success in the Champions League, and the Netherlands' success in the UEFA Nations League.

In his 24 appearances wearing the Blaugrana shirt, the 22 year old has a 94% pass success rate, 2 goals, and 2 assists to his name. However, the statistics do not do him justice, as there is something special about the player.

He is the quintessential Barcelona player, with a penchant for creating space, making lightning quick runs across the field, absorbing pressure, and best of all, controlling the tempo of the game.

De Jong was purchased for just £75 million, which has come to be an absolute steal, considering his incredible impact on the Catalan side.

If the 22-year old Dutchman keeps progressing at this rate, there is no doubt that he could become one of the best midfielders of all-time. With 23-year-old Brazilian Arthur Melo by his side in the midfield, there very well may be another golden era for Barcelona in the years to come.
