Ray Parlour believes Arsenal still have “every chance” of winning the Premier League

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has warned people not to write off Arsenal’s title chances, despite being battered 5-1 by Liverpool on Saturday.

The Gunners were knocked off top spot as Chelsea overtook them with their 3-0 win over Newcastle, but remain just a point away from the Blues and top spot.

Some ‘experts’ have written off Arsenal as serious contenders after Saturday’s defeat to a fellow title challenger, believing their squad is not strong enough to keep up their bid for a first title in 12 years.

Bur Parlour feels it is too early to dismiss any hope, telling TalkSport, “Arsenal have got every chance of winning the Premier League title. They’re in a great position.

“The big players have got to perform now, which they haven’t done so far.

“The match against Manchester United has become ‘must win’. They need to show the fans that they are still in the title race.

“They’ve got to go out and perform against Man United. Your home form has always got to be pretty good (if you’re going to win the league).”

Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night and could go back top if they win and Chelsea fail to beat West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Tuesday.

Manchester United are definitely out of the title race however, as they sit 15 points behind Chelsea. Arsenal are second and a point off the top, so any talk of their title race being over is premature at the very least, given that Manchester City (who trail Arsenal by a point) are still considered favourites by many.

Arsenal have 367 tackles this season, less than any other team in the top six, while their success rate of 46% is worse than any of their rivals at the top of the table.
