Real Madrid 2-3 Barcelona: Twitter explodes following an epic El Clasico

By the end of El Clasico, it was Barcelona who beat Real Madrid 3-2 in a crunch La Liga fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night. Needing a win to go level on points with Real Madrid and top the table (although Real have a game in hand), a Lionel Messi brace saw Barcelona come away with all three points on a historic night for the Argentine forward.

Casemiro had opened the scoring when he pounced on a rebound off the post before Messi equalised at the other end five minutes later. Ivan Rakitic then gave Barcelona the lead in the second half before Real were reduced to 10 men following a red card to Sergio Ramos.

James Rodriguez had equalised for Los Blancos before Messi’s 92nd-minute winner – his 500^th competitive goal in a Barcelona shirt – sparked wild celebrations in the Catalan club’s camp.
