Ivan Rakitic is a Croatian professional footballer who plays for FC Barcelona and the Croatian National Team. Rakitic was born on 10th March, 1988 in Rheinfelden, Switzerland. However, he never played a senior international for the nation of his birth.
In the early part of his career, Rakitic spent 12 years at FC Basel before signing for Schalke in 2007. After playing for the German side, the Croatian moved to Sevilla in 2011. Three successful years later, he was packing his bags for Barcelona, the side he is currently in action for.
Internationally, he made his debut for Croatia on 8th September, 2007 against Estonia. Since then, he has amassed over a hundred international caps and was a vital part of the Croatian team that went all the way to the 2018 FIFA World Cup final.
