Real Madrid defeated Everton 2-1 in the semifinal of the International Champions Cup thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored in the 17th minute, and the man of the match Mesut Ozil who scored 14 minutes later. The second-half substitute Nikica Jelavic’s goal in the 61st minute kept Everton in with a chance.

Ronaldo and Ozil starred in the first ever football match played at Dodger Stadium which is used mainly for baseball. This win keeps Real Madrid unbeaten in friendly matches this summer.

Ronaldo opened the scoring courtesy a Mesut Ozil pass which left him alone in Everton’s half, where he dummied Howard and tapped home for the first goal.

Everton themselves had quite a few chances. Firstly, Marouane Fellaini’s header bounced back off the post in the 24th minute, and Sylvain Distin’s goal was disallowed for a foul in the box.

Ronaldo and Ozil made strides behind Everton’s defence once again, with Ronaldo assisting Ozil who tapped it in with a right foot for the second goal.

Moments after the second goal, local boy Tim Howard made an acrobatic diving stop. Everton then replied with a goal of their own when Steven Naismith headed a cross into path of Jelavic, whose powerful shot found back of the net.

The final is on Wednesday night in Miami, where Real Madrid will face rither Chelsea or AC Milan who will play the other semifinal in New York on Sunday.
