Reports: Real Madrid have made contact with Chelsea superstar's close circle

Real Madrid Training and Press Conference
There might finally be some good news for Zidane and Real Madrid in the January transfer window

What's the story?

Real Madrid have been struggling this season but there might finally be some good news for their fans as reports in Radio Montecarlo (via AS) claim that Los Blancos have made contact with Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard's agent to finalise a transfer as soon as possible.

Hazard has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid and with Los Blancos under pressure to make a statement in the transfer market after the signing of Coutinho by Barcelona, Zidane has reportedly told Perez to make the signing of Hazard his number 1 priority in the transfer window.

The Belgian winger is himself said to be keen on a move to the Bernabeu. Although Hazard only has a contract until 2020, he recently rejected two contract extension offers by Chelsea even though they promised to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.

Hazard's father even confirmed that the Belgian would be interested in a move to the Bernabeu. Speaking a few days ago, Hazard's father, Thierry said:

"Eden has turned down a proposal to extend his contract so that he can, if necessary, deal with the interest from Real Madrid"

The heart of the matter

Having fallen 16 points off the pace in La Liga, Real Madrid are under pressure to salvage their season and prevent it from becoming a complete disaster. Barcelona's signings of Dembele and Coutinho this season have also turned up the heat and the Madrid fans are desperate for a superstar signing of their own.

With Hazard rejecting a new contract, it is obvious that the Chelsea superstar is also considering his future move. Blessed with pace, excellent technical skills, and dribbling ability, the signing of Hazard could reinvigorate this jaded Real Madrid team.

Los Blancos lost out on two important attacking players this season in James Rodiguez and Alvaro Morata, and it is high time that they flexed their muscle in the transfer market once again.

The Belgian superstar is quite clearly one of the most talented players in the Premier League.

Author's take

Hazard has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid and it finally looks like the long wait might be coming to an end. One of the best (if not the best) players in the Premier League, Hazard is definitely taking of Real Madrid to new heights.

However, a move might only be completed in the summer as Chelsea will not be keen on a losing a player of his stature in the January transfer window.
