Report: Real Madrid may consider selling either Bale or Ronaldo in summer

Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two most expensive players on the planet

Spanish giants Real Madrid are caught in a dilemma on whether to let go of Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale in the next summer transfer window, according to ESPN. The agents of both players are looking for options if they were to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and it has been reported that Los Blancos are ready to sell one of them.

For the past few weeks, the Portugal captain has been publicly hinting on a return to Manchester United or make a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain. It has been understood by the sources close to his agent, Jorge Mendes, that the latter looks to be a more likely destination and Ronaldo's agent has maintained a line of dialogue with the French champions.

United, on the other hand, have reportedly shifted their interest to Bale and this news has given them a major boost in acquiring his services during summer. However, the Welshman has constantly played down the links with the Red Devils in the recent past and had boasted about how his move to Los Blancos broke the world transfer record.

It’s clear that the former Tottenham forward is struggling to fully adapt to the team and the city. Sources close to him has claimed that he has very few ‘friends’ at the Bernabeu and has struggled to build relationships with key players.

Despite this, the Galacticos may be reluctant to allow Bale to leave, with his signing representing almost a personal project for club president Florentino Perez, not least because of his record transfer fee and he was brought into the club as an eventual successor to Ronaldo.

Perez may be reluctant to sell Ronaldo

Sources said the club president has become increasingly irritated by Ronaldo and his constant suggestions about leaving the Spanish capital, and now, he is considering selling the club icon which makes sense from a sporting perspective as the player is already in his 30s.

However, Perez is wary of selling the club’s all-time leading scorer while he remains at his peak. The former United forward has been a huge earner for the club and his mere presence at a club means the world record fee is recouped in marketing in the space of a season.

So Perez has a tough decision to make on whether to let go of Ronaldo or Bale, given that it is proving difficult to ensure that both players perform at the top level while they are in the same squad and both are now open to moves.
