What’s the story?

Real Madrid's interest in Eden Hazard is not unknown. Zinedine Zidane is a huge fan of the Belgian and is keen on working with him.

For this to happen, Eden Hazard needs to move to Bernabeu and Los Blancos are preparing a stunning deal for it! As per reports in the Express, the Spanish giants are ready to let Marco Asensio join Chelsea in return for Hazard.

In case you didn’t know...

Eden Hazard is yet to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge but talks are ongoing. The Belgian wants £300,000 a week as wages and the club are trying to negotiate a little.

Asensio meanwhile has just signed a new contract, keeping him at Bernabeu until 2023. But the player might not remain at the club for so long as they are planning to exchange him for Hazard.

The heart of the matter

Asensio is said to be frustrated with the lack of match time and has reportedly made it clear to Zidane and the Madrid board. The 21-year-old Spaniard was a regular last season but with Isco playing so well and Cristiano Ronaldo being what he is, it's become difficult for the former Real Mallorca player to break into the starting XI again.

Author’s Take

Swapping Hazard for Asensio will be a win-win situation for both clubs and the players involved. Hazard will get to play for Real Madrid and work under Zidane while Chelsea will be getting a very talented Asensio and the player will get a lot of match time as he will come in as a direct replacement for the Belgian.

However, the possibility of this happening is very low. Chelsea rate Hazard very highly and rightly so. They are not interested in swapping or selling him at any cost and that is not going to change unless Hazard decides that he does not want to extend his contract at the club.
