Gareth Bale was subjected to severe abuse from Real Madrid fans as he was leaving the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night. Following a rather disappointing performance in the 1-1 draw against Juventus, abuses such as "cabron" and "hijo de puta" (son of a b***h) were thrown at him as the Welsh international attempted to drive away.

The 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu ensured that Juventus won the tie 3-2 on aggregate thus entering their first Champions League final in 12 years. They will now face Barcelona in Berlin as both teams look to win a treble while Real Madrid could end the season trophyless.

His dismal performance on the night was an appropriate epitome to Gareth Bale’s season. Having made the starting lineup, Bale missed a series of chances including a sitter on the 35-second mark. Bale was also booed and whistled at each time he got the ball.

Before the abuse at the car park, Bale had defended himself in the post-match press conference saying, “I've maybe not scored as many important chances as I'd like, but my general play has been good. My finishing is not as good and that's something to work on for next year.”

"What doesn't kill me makes me stronger and I'll learn from this season and take it on."
