What's the story?

Real Madrid are looking to bring money in from transfers for spending this summer transfer window. Reports suggest that they are looking to make £300 alone from player sales. One of the high value players they are looking sell is James Rodriguez.

In case you didn't know...

James Rodriguez was bought by Real Madrid from AS Monaco after his glittering performance in the 2014 World Cup where he was awarded the Golden boot. But after arriving at Real, James was always failing to find a spot in the starting lineup. It was not due to his bad form, but the fact that the coaches didn't have a position to play him in. His opportunities were even limited after Zinedine Zidane took over as coach of Real Madrid.

After 3 years on the sidelines James was sent away to join Bayern Munich on a 2-year loan. He was a starter for the club in his first season, gaining plaudits for his amazing performances. He seemed to be back on the path to glory, with Bayern almost sure to sign him up after the loan period.

But at the start of the 2nd season, everything started going wrong. James was sidelined by Injuries and was replaced by Leon Goeretzka. Goeretzka'z incredible form and James's inconsistent perfomances made things even worse. So, Rodriguez will be looking for a new club this summer with Bayern making it clear that they don't want to extend his stay.

The heart of the matter

Spanish Publication MARCA reports that Los Blancos are looking to sell James Rodriguez who is valued at £70M by the club this summer transfer window as the Colombian doesn't want to return to Madrid due to the reappointment of Zinedine Zidane as manager.

Marca says that Real Madrid want to sell him to Premier League clubs as they could offer more money comparatively. But they also report that the Colombian is not interested in moving to the Premier League and is tempted by the Italian league. There are reports that Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has made James his top transfer target . The Italian was the manager of Madrid when James was brought in. Juventus are also said to be looking to sign him.

What's next?

James is currently preparing for the Copa America with the Colombian National team. It is quite well known that he is not in good terms with Zidane. So, there is a very high chance he could leave Real Madrid this summer. The only thing we can do is wait and watch the story unfold.
