What’s the story?

Thiago Silva in a recent interview was asked about his national teammate Rodrygo's sensational rise. The 35-year-old revealed that he was in awe of the teenager. He even said that he would not like to face the teenager and therefore hopes Zinedine Zidane leaves him on the bench for the PSG game.

In case you didn’t know…

The Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Santos this season and is registered as a Castilla player. But his impressive performances earned him the chance to play and train with the first team. Rodrygo has been impressive for Los Blancos and his hat-trick against Galatasaray was just a glimpse of what the future holds for the Spanish giants.

The heart of the matter

Thiago Silva and Rodrygo are in Abu Dhabi at Brazil’s training camp preparing for their games against Argentina and South Korea. Paris Saint-Germain's captain, Silva, in a recent interview when asked about the evolution of Rodrygo jokingly said:

"I hope Zidane leaves him on the bench."
“I think it may come as a surprise to many that an 18-year-old lad has emerged in this way, with such a great personality. It's not just the way he plays. Look how he celebrates the goals, calmly and serenely.
“He’s not a presumptuous lad, eager for prominence. He knows what he wants from his career at a very young age and already has great experience.”
“He scored three goals in the Champions League.”
"He is a player that we need to give special attention because his quality and talent speak for him. It will be a huge match between two very big teams. I hope our night is more inspiring than theirs."

Silva implied that the 18-year-old is a talented and mature player considering his age. He even pointed out that PSG will pay special attention towards Rodrygo if he does make an appearance.

What's next?

PSG and Madrid will lock horns in the Champions League on November 27. Les Parisiens are currently leading the Group A with four wins in as many games. In the last meeting between these two teams, PSG defeated Los Blancos by a scoreline of 3-0.
