What's the story?

Real Madrid and ex-Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois thinks the club should sign Hazard instead of Neymar.

In case you didn't know...

Belgian star Courtois spent four seasons with Eden Hazard at Chelsea before joining Real Madrid last August. Since then the keeper has started regularly for Los Blancos ahead of Keylor Navas.

Real Madrid have failed to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who signed for Juventus after guiding them to three consecutive Champions league title season.

Neymar and Hazard are the players Real Madrid are desperately trying to sign as Cristiano Ronaldo's replacement but have failed to do so throughout two transfer windows.

The Belgian midfielder has openly expressed his desire to play for the Spanish giants.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri recently made clear that Hazard can leave the club if he wants to, but the Italian hopes that he will decide to stay in London.

The heart of the matter

Real Madrid shot-stopper in his interview with Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad (via AS) made his thoughts clear on the player Real Madrid should sign.

The Belgian shot-stopper said, "I [would] choose Eden, of course. I really like him, but the choice is up to the board. I do not know what will happen. That is not a question for me, but for the chairman and the management."

The Golden Glove winner of 2018 World Cup also praised his Real Madrid teammates.

"The team is what it is now. Karim Benzema is in a good shape and scored 17 goals. [Gareth] Bale started well, but then had to deal with injuries. You see in the matches that we have quality, only sometimes it is not possible to score.", the 26-year-old said.

What's next?

Real Madrid are placed third in the La Liga and are 10 points behind the leaders Barcelona. Los Blancos will face Deportivo Alaves this week at Bernabeu and will look to continue their impressive form.
