Bayern Munich’s Spanish midfielder, Xabi Alonso believes Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo would make an excellent addition to his team. Ronaldo had struggled for the Galacticos at the beginning of the season but has now struck form after scoring five goals in just two games for the Spanish club.

The 31-year-old had a sort of a goal drought in recent weeks, but the Portuguese forward has now helped his team reach the top of the La Liga table as they sit 6 points above arch rivals, FC Barcelona. Xabi Alonso feels that Cristiano has gotten better and better over the years and has now turned into a complete player.

"Cristiano has adapted on the pitch. He's not a central striker, (but) he wants to play closer to the area," Alonso told Onda Cero.

"He intuitively knows where the ball will go - a lot of goals are scored with his first touch.”

The 35 year Spanish midfielder thinks that the three-time Ballon d’Or winner has learned to be in the right areas at the right time to finish off a move and added that he would be delighted to see the Portuguese superstar at the Allianz as long as he scores 50 goals.

"I think he's done very well, having taken this step and getting closer to the area. As long as he's getting 50 goals, I wish we had someone like him here. Cristiano's numbers are amazing, indisputable."

Zidane’s success surprising

The former Liverpool midfielder also revealed that he was quite surprised with the kind of success Zinedine Zidane has already had at the club, Zidane was working as an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti when Xabi Alonso was playing for Madrid in his final season.

Xabi Alonso departed Liverpool and spent five years at the Santiago Bernabeu before joining Bayern Munich in 2014. Alonso won several titles with the Galacticos including the Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, La Liga and a Champions League title.

"Of course Zidane has surprised me as a coach. I didn't know how he would do," said Alonso

"He was helpful during the Decima year (in 2014). He couldn't have done better. He won the Undecima (11th Champions League title), they have a six-point advantage, and they're dominating," he added

The Spanish midfielder also talked about Saturday’s El Clasico and that Real Madrid and stated that Zidane’s team must approach the match with confidence if they want a favourable result

"Madrid have a solidity when it comes to approaching matches. In games in which they play well and others where they're not as good, they have the confidence that they're going to do well," he said.

Real Madrid will be hoping to make the most of Cristiano Ronaldo’s resurrection of form as they look to take all three points from Barcelona who come off the back of two back-to-back draws in La Liga.
