Real Madrid superstar, Gareth Bale, is expected to sign a bumper new deal which will keep him with the Champions League winners till 2022. The Wales star still has three years left on his contract but Real will look to tie him down on a long-term deal to negate all the interest from Manchester United who are rumoured to be interested in signing the 27-year-old.
The Red Devils are long-term admirers of Bale and even tried to lure him from Tottenham Hotspurs but were rejected as he chose Madrid instead.
Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid in 2013 and has already won two Champions Leagues and one Copa Del Rey titles during his time with the Los Blancos. Earlier he was earning £300,000 per week which was almost double of what he was earning with Spurs in the Premier League. With this new deal, Bale will now earn £350,000 per week which will amount to a mammoth £14.3 million per year.
He scored 19 goals last season for Real and also was one of the best players in the UEFA European Championships where he scored three goals and guided Wales to semifinals of the event.
Speaking of Wales, they face Moldova tonight in a World Cup qualifier. Manager Chris Coleman spoke eloquently on his main man Gareth Bale by saying, “Gareth scored inside 75 seconds of Real’s first game of the season but I never get surprised by him. I know he’s capable of almost anything and I think Madrid are very excited about the future.
"They recognise that they’ve got someone who’s going to be there for a while and is capable of winning everything. He’s getting better and better still. Along with that incredible ability, he’s got first-class mentality. It’s a winning formula. ”
In an interview last week, Gareth Bale expressed his desire of winning more silverware under Zinedine Zidane. He said, "My aim is to win as many trophies as I can and as many Champions Leagues as I can. That will be the aim again this year. Everybody wants to beat Real Madrid, but we know we have a chance to make history again and we will be trying our best to do that. It is difficult winning the Champions League and not many people get to say they've won it."
With this new deal, Gareth Bale will become the fourth highest paid footballer in the world. He follows his Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, Barcelona's Lionel Messi and the now the world's most expensive player in Paul Pogba.
