First big signing!

What’s the story?

Rela Madrid are not a club who spend in January but with the situation, not in their favour, they have decided to break their tradition. The Spanish giants are in desperate need of fresh faces to have any chance of winning a silverware.

As per reports in Marca, Los Blancos have agreed a deal to sign Rafa Mir from Valencia. The Spanish starlet is set to join Real Madrid next month but will be heading to their Castilla straight away.

In case you didn’t know…

Rafa Mir is not having a good time at Valencia. The striker has refused to sign a new contract at the club and that has forced them to punish him.

He has been told that he will not get to train or play with the first team until he signs a new contract. However, Mir has still refused to sign a new contract as he looks to leave the club.

The heart of the matter

The 20-year-old striker has been in stunning form for Valencia Mestalla this season. He has notched 15 goals in 19 appearances this season and is one of the best in the Spanish 3rd division.

Zidane wants him to join the Castilla side for the rest of the season before promoting him to the first team next season. The striker is happy to do so and is set to join them next month.

Mir was close to joining Los Blancos in the summer as well but the move fell through at the last moment. Marca reports that the Valencia president 'vetoed' the move as he wanted him to stay at the club.

What's next?

Rafa Mir will be heading to Bernabeu finally for his medical. The striker is expected to be joining them in the first week itself.

Author’s Take

Mir is a promising talent. It will be interesting to see if Madrid trust him or just loan him out and then sell him like they did with Morata.
