What's the story?

According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid are close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea for their star, Eden Hazard.

In case you didn't know...

After performing superbly in the World Cup, The Belgian forward has managed to carry his sensational form into the Premier League and become an asset for Chelsea. With 14 goals and 12 assists, Eden Hazard is one of the best forwards in the Premier League despite Chelsea being 5th with a point less than 3rd placed Tottenham.

Hazard remains the key player who can still propel the Blues to a major silverware this season. Chelsea are still going strong in the Europa League and recently reached the Carabao Cup final which they lost to Manchester City.

The Blues were handed a transfer ban, which means they won't be able to sign players in the upcoming transfer windows and the Chelsea hierarchy are waiting for a final decision. Meanwhile, Hazard is yet to renew his contract and will be entering into the final year of his Chelsea contract in the upcoming season.

With Belgium, Hazard has netted 3 goals in just two Euro Qualifier matches, which depicts the impact of the mercurial forward.

The Belgian never hid his desire to play for Real Madrid but recently claimed that he is focused on his current club.

The heart of the matter

Real Madrid seems the ideal destination for the world-class forward, who seriously wants to play under Zinedine Zidane next season. The French coach is himself a fan of the Belgian star and gave his nod to the transfer as Hazard will bring much-needed pace and creativity to the current Los Blancos side.

According to the report, Los Blancos are close to reaching an agreement with both Chelsea and Hazard. The Belgian will travel to Madrid soon when the deal would be finalized.

Real Madrid tried to secure Hazard last summer but the huge asking price made them back off.

Rumor rating: 7/10

Marca is a reliable source, and Hazard's transfer to Real Madrid seems likely as both parties have been fond of each other.

What's next?

Chelsea will play West Ham before turning their focus on Europa League.
