Real Madrid are lining up a shock move for Liverpool’s young defender Joe Gomez, according to reports from Diario Gol (via Daily Star). The 19-year-old has recovered from the successive ACL injuries he suffered in the last two years and is knocking on the first team door.

The reports claim Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane wants to sign Gomez as the potential long-term defensive option for Real Madrid alongside Raphael Varane. Pepe is expected to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer and club captain Sergio Ramos, 31, is beginning to enter the twilight of his footballing career.

However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful of holding on to Gomez and will give me extended playing time from now until the end of this season to convince him to snub an offer from the La Liga giants.

James’ Real Madrid spell could end soon

James Rodriguez has his heart set on a summer move to Manchester United, according to reports from Don Balon. James is one of the several stars tipped to quit Santiago Bernabeu this summer and has already received an offer from the Chinese Super League.

As per the reports, Real Madrid were offered a world record £95m fee earlier this week, however, the Colombian star has no intention of moving to China and prefers to join Man United ahead of the other suitors.

Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, but Jose Mourinho’s playing style and the lack of a clinical number 10 at Manchester United has tempted James to force a move to Old Trafford and he is hopeful of signing for United ahead of next season.
