Reports: Real Madrid want Chelsea star

Everton v Chelsea - Premier League
There is no way Conte is going to let him go

What's the story?

Real Madrid have had a disappointing run in defending their league title so far this season. They are fourth in the league and are 16 points behind the leaders, F.C. Barcelona.

The La Liga champions have been after the Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois for quite some time now. They remain persistent and are not willing to give up on their pursuit of the Belgians.

To add another name to the list, according to Daily Star, the Spanish giants are now targeting Marcos Alonso and plan to take him to his home country of Spain.

Speaking to Marca a couple of months ago, Alonso said, "Real was my home for a long time and I’ve not forgotten it. There’s part of me that will always be there, I can’t deny it. To play for the first team was a dream."

In case you didn't know...

Alosno joined the Blues in 2016 for £24m signing a 5-year contract with the club. He has already scored the most number of goals - 6 - as a defender in the Premier League this season.

The Spanish international first played for Real Madrid, making his 1st team debut in April 2009.

The heart of the matter

Real Madrid are looking for a replacement for Marcelo. The defender has not had a good season under manager Zinedine Zidane so far, which has left the Frenchman frustrated.

The La Liga giants now want to replace the Brazilian and have identified Chelsea's Marcos Alonso. The left-back has had an impressing start to this season under Antonio Conte.

His performance has caught attention from Real Madrid. Zidane has told Perez to bring the defender to Santiago Bernabeu.

While Real Madrid tend to get the players they want most of the time, it seems it is going to be hard for them to get the left-back. Antonio Conte is not happy with his squad size and is not going to let a player leave before finding a replacement.

Though the Blues are targeting Alex Sandro, it does not mean they are open to selling Alonso. Sandro is being brought to give the 27-year-old some competition for the left-back position.

The Blues have been left frustrated with the asking price for Sandro - a staggering £60m. For now, Alonso is the first choice as a left-back for the Italian manager.
