FC Barcelona face competition for the signing of the Bundesliga star

What's the rumour?

According to Spanish media outlet, Marca, Barcelona are plotting a move for Bundesliga star, Luka Jovic amid wide interest across Europe.

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the young sharpshooter, which increases his price tag and makes it more difficult for Barcelona to secure his services.

In case you didn't know...

Jovic is one of the breakthrough talents of this season so far. The 21-year-old Serbian sits second in the scoring charts behind only Robert Lewandowski and has racked up 15 goals and 6 assists in the Bundesliga so far.

Jovic has also netted 7 goals in the Europa League so far and there is no doubt that he has played a pivotal role for Frankfurt's progress in the competition.

The Serbian sharpshooter recently was the sole goalscorer as Serbia held Germany for a 1-1 draw. It is rare for a young sharpshooter to show such maturity and composure on the ball at his age but Jovic is constantly doing that and terrorizing some of the best rearguards in the process.

Jovic is currently on loan at Frankfurt from Benfica, with an option to buy for €6 million at the end of the season.

The heart of the matter

Barcelona are currently hunting for a talented goalscorer for a potential replacement for 32-year-old Uruguayan ace Luis Suarez. The Blaugrana has made Jovic their prime target in the summer as the Catalan giants believe that the Serbian talent will be ideal for them.

According to the report, Barcelona officials traveled to watch Jovic play against Inter in the Europa League where the striker impressed but the constant strong performances is only increasing his price tag.

European giants like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also interested in securing the services of the sharpshooter, which will only propel Frankfurt to increase their asking price.

Rumour rating: 6/10

There is no doubt that a player of Jovic's caliber will be beneficial to any squad. Marca remains a reliable source when it comes to news about Spain.

What's next?

Serbia will face Portugal before Jovic returns in action for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
