Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might have to part ways with a senior squad member at the end of the season.

What's the story?

According to Simon Mullock of The Mirror Manchester United skipper Antonio Valencia may be on his way out of the Old Trafford once, the season ends, after his contract with the Red Devils expires in the summer.

The 33-year old will be a free agent once the season ends and if the report is to be believed his agents are in contact with Inter Milan, who seem interested in securing the services of the player.

In case you didn't know...

Antonio Valencia joined the club in 2009, under Sir Alex Ferguson and was utilized as a winger on the right flank for most of his 10-year spell at the club.

He was shifted to a right-back position subsequently and had cemented his position at the club, but found himself out of favor with the now sacked Jose Mourinho this season.

United have until March to extend Valencia's stay in England for another 12 months, but unlike the case of De Gea and Martial, United are not keen on triggering the option with the player who'll be 34-year old next season.

The heart of the matter

Valencia has only started in 5 league fixtures this season, but he still remains important for Manchester United who will be left with inexperienced backups at the position if he leaves the club in the next transfer window.

Inter Milan are reportedly the only party that have assessed his situation and are in touch with his advisers, who know that the United may not end up offering contract extension to the Ecuadorian.

Rumor Rating - 6/10

Simon Mullock of The Mirror is a reliable news source when it comes to the Manchester clubs and his exclusives have been spot on in the past. Also, it seems highly unlikely that United will be extending the contract of a 33-year old player.

Manchester United are back to winning ways under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but face their biggest challenge under him so far in a strong looking Tottenham Hotspur, who had humiliated them 3-0 at the Old Trafford earlier this season.
